Recognizing Warning Signs at Parties

Parties and social events are high-risk environments. This guide helps athletes recognize warning signs — someone being isolated, pressured, or too intoxicated to consent — and gives them specific actions to take.

Steps

  1. Teach the signs: isolation, intoxication, pressure, reluctance.
  2. The 'check-in' move: approach the person, not the aggressor.
  3. The 'distraction' move: create a reason to separate them.
  4. The 'bring friends' move: show up as a group.
  5. When to call for help: campus security, 911, or a safe ride.
