Disrespectful Behavior in the Locker Room
Locker rooms are where team culture is built or broken. Disrespectful talk that goes unchallenged becomes normal. This guide gives coaches and captains concrete scripts for shutting it down in the moment.
Steps
- Name it immediately: 'That's not how we talk about people on this team.'
- Don't shame — redirect: 'Hey, let's keep it respectful.'
- If it continues: pull the player aside privately after.
- Reinforce the standard at next team meeting.
